OTHER GALAXIES
Lying near the southern border of the constellation of Virgo is Messier 104 (NGC 4594), the Sombrero Galaxy. It is estimated that it has a linear diameter of 130,000 light years. A couple of methods have been employed to measure its distance, their results average about 29 million light years. This was a “quick & dirty” shot of this galaxy which is deserving of a much better effort next time out. I hope to gather much more data and another image of this beautiful galaxy.
