DIFFUSE NEBULAE
M42, M43 and friends in the constellation Orion.
This is Messier 42 (M42) revisited in Dec. 2020. My first image of M42 was 2 years ago using a Canon T5i DSLR. This version is basically with the same gear (mount, telescope, etc.) but with a dedicated, cooled astronomy camera. There is still room for a great deal of improvement in my processing skills. Despite my limitations, quite a difference I think. Much more detail captured and better color. This was only 56 minutes (28 x 120 secs @ gain 120). No calibration frames - just a quick stack of light frames in DeepSkyStacker. I knew the core would be blown out - but was anxious to give the camera a try on this target. Details are here.
As always, thanks for looking!
